Career Goals: I want a career that will give me the chance to use all of my creative talents to their highest potential.

Education
Bachelor of Education
Queen's University
1996

I successfully completed a one year programme in which I further developed the skills needed to facilitate the learning of children aged 4 to 12. Subjects covered included general curriculum studies, the computer as a learning tool, and an independent study course in which I wrote a teaching resource that focused on using art making as a tool to teach reading skills.
Bachelor of Fine Arts
Queen's University

After a 4 year programme of intense studio work and art history study I am now versed in many hard and soft sculptural techniques, painting styles and printmaking methods. In my final year I created tapestries combining a printmaking and mixed media vernacular.
O.S.S.H.G.D
Dr. G. W. Williams S.S.

In five years of high school I studied art, math, history, science, French and German. My high school experiences often involved creative endeavors such as making animated films and videos for class projects and co-curricular clubs. During this time I worked as a counselor at an art camp aiding classes in puppetry, painting, and sculpture.

Work Experience

Summer 1997 - Present
Summer 1996 (Summer Student)
I am currently an Education Officer for the Education Department. For this position I deliver theme specific tours to pre-school and elementary school classes. In the past I held the position of Assistant Head of Family Programs. During my time at the Gallery I have: helped develop and revise tours, supervised volunteers, developed and organized the Gallery's Birthday party programme and other family events and activities. As a summer student I conceptualized, designed and illustrated an income generating activity book.
Kolej Ayseabla
Ankara, Turkey
1996-1997
As an arts teacher I instructed 340 children, aged 9-16, in drawing, painting, sculpture and craft techniques. I also taught a third grade English as a Second Language class, in a team teaching situation, for one semester. Exploratative learning, self-expression, experimentation, and continuous practice were stressed in all classes.
Agnes Etherington Art Centre
Kingston, Ontario
1995-96
1994-95
1992-93
As a volunteer and paid employee I gave guided tours to diverse groups of visitors. I aided in volunteer training, and independently designed and instructed several special programmes and classes for adults and children. As a summer student I was the Assistant to the Education Officer. My main project was to aid in the development of two theme tours for schools. I provided the initial concept of two tour programmes for the Primary and Junior age groups, designed and built all visual aids, organized all materials and equipment, drafted scripts, and wrote and illustrated a well received, 20 page teacher resource.

Skills
Visual Arts I possess a wide range of skills in manipulating materials. I have experience in different plaster, concrete, wood, clay and metal working techniques. Arc and gas welding are a joy as an art medium. I'm trained in several silk-screening and lithography techniques, and I am good with a paintbrush; possessing a keen sense of colour and detail. My preferred medium, however, is fabric. Among my skills are knitting, crochet, sewing clothing and soft sculpture, weaving, embroidery, quilting and appliqué done by hand and by machine.
Performing arts I completed three of six levels in Toronto's Second City Improvisation classes which developed my concentration, story telling and teamwork skills. As part of my teacher training I took courses on drama as an educational tool and took story telling workshops.

I have taken adult dance classes in 50's jive, and classical and modern ballroom.

Currently I'm teaching myself to play the guitar. Again, as a result of my teacher training, I have knowledge of proper singing techniques and of how to use music to teach.

Language Arts

Over the years I have developed an interest in foreign languages on a linguistic level. I have learned to make myself understood in French and German through university and high school courses. I studied introductory Spanish and Italian, and as a result of my time abroad I can speak and understand limited Turkish.

Presently I am writing children's books. I have submitted one picturebook manuscript, and have a book of verse and a youth novel in development. My poetry has been published in a University publication and was featured in a University radio program.

Sports I have dabbled in Archery, and entered a fencing competition in university.
Computers I have an end user's knowledge of computer technology and operating systems. I am proficient with both PC and Macintosh formats. I am well versed in a number of wordprocessor and painting programmes including Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop. I am comfortable with e-mail and the Internet, and I am familiar with authoring for the Web, possessing a good understanding of HTML and page construction.

Summary I consider myself to be a very creative and enterprising person with so many interests and goals that I aim to find a career which combines all of my loves for creating, learning and sharing in order to be the most happy.
