1880 - 12th President, Sandford Fleming, C.E. (later Sir).Speech by Mr. William Pitman Lett: "would not have objected to be a Scotchman today, seeing that the thistle, the bagpipes, the tartan and the 'Tam o'Shanter' appear to be in the ascendant...[no] disgrace to be a countryman of Robert Burns, Dugald Stewart, Allan Ramsay, James Hogg, Christopher North, John Knox, Dr. Chalmers, Robert Hall,Thomas Campbell and Lord Clyde" (p. 65).

1881 - Two poems, greetings received at St. Andrew's Night ball (p. 67).

1883 - Annual meeting of the Society held in their Hall, Elgin St (p. 69). Concert in Opera House.

1884 - Concert in Opera House attended by G.G. and Lady Lansdowne, Lady Macdonald (p. 71).

1896 - Society has 214 members. John Thorburn compiles Jubilee History of Society (p. 89).

1898 - Concert in Russell Theatre attended by G.G. Earl and Countess of Minto (p. 92).

1900 - Concert in Russell Theatre attended by Sir Wilfrid and Lady Laurier (p. 94).

1902 - Society decides to establish library of books of Scottish literature (p. 96).

1906 - Building committee to consider a Hall for the Society.Address to Mr. Andrew Carnegie in Ottawa to open Carnegie PublicLibrary, his reply "10 Scots to 1 Englishman in positions of trust through the world (p. 106). Nov. 30, Banquet in Grand Union Hotel. "A novel feature of the menu was the entrance of the cook into the room with the Haggis above his head preceded by the piper blowing vigorously on his pipes" (p. 107).

1907 - May 1, Bi-centenary of Union of England andScotland. Poem by Mr. Harry Allan (pp. 109-110). Nov. 30, Concertin Russell Theatre. Sir Wilfrid, in official robes, and Lady Laurier.To honour his presence, "O Canada" sung both in English and French.Annual meeting in St. Andrew's Hall. Cable from Lord Aberdeen, greetings from other St. Andrew's societies (p. 111).

1908 - History of the Society to be brought up to date, with briefbio sketches of Past Presidents, half tone portraits and a large photographic group of same (p. 112). Literary and Musical entertainment evening, March 11 "St. Andrew's Societies were successful because of the fine work accomplished, largely through them, in keeping before the public the elevating influences of Scottish Music and Literature and of past and present brave Scottish deeds" (p. 112).

1909 - History of Society ready for publication, $570 for 300 copies (p. 115).

1912 - Society entertained visiting Scottish curlers. May 2, appreciation recorded of bravery of Scotsmen on the Titanic "reported to have stood to their posts and kept the fated steamer afloat and lights burning to the last" (p. 117).

1914 - Feb. Annual fees raised from $1 to $2 (p. 121).Members on military service to be exempt during absence.
