Merrickville Karate Club was founded in February,1985 and has run continuously ever since. Classes are held on Friday evenings at the St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School, 306 Read Street, from 6:30 until 8:00 pm. Each class is one and a half hours long and contains all levels and age groups. It is very much a family club as children and parents can both attend the same class.
This club is a member of the World Kobudo Federation and the style taught is Shotokan Karate. There are currently 6 Black Belts teaching, but the chief instructor (Sensei Ron Wattie) is always present and ensures that everyone teaches the same things in the same manner.
Our spring session is now underway. If you are interested in joining us, I urge you to call immediately as a waiting list for the next session has already been established. This club ALWAYS has a waiting list, but there is still room for a few new student
At Merrickville Karate, visitors are always welcome so stop by to watch, or even try a class.
Congratulations to Steve Sanger for winning second place in the kata division during his first tournament experience at the Smiths Falls Spring Showdown May 5.
