Monte Carlo Simulation

A Monte Carlo Simulation utilizes random numbers to derive an outcome(s). So instead of having fixed inputs, probability distributions are assigned to some or all of the inputs. This will generate a probability distribution for the output after the simulation is ran. It is used extensively in finance for such tasks as pricing derivatives.

For a detailed discussion on Monte Carlo, the following page will explain a simple model.
