Call for Artists and Submissions
Spencer Gallery is looking for artists for our 2001 exhibition schedule. Artists may submit an exhibition proposal, as outlined below to the gallery for consideration. Both solo and group exhibitions will be considered. Deadline : January 1st, 2001.
Exhibition Proposal 1. Artist Resume: A current artist resume is required for each artist participating. This should include contact information (address, phone number etc.), art education, solo and group exhibitions, awards and grants and any other relevant information.
2. Artist Statement/Exhibition Description: This statement should briefly outline the theme of the show - the type of work (style, media, technique), any theoretical or historical background as well as the specific works to be included in the exhibition.
3. Slides or Photos: Artists should include 10 to 20 slides or photos of recent work for our consideration. Please include a numbered slide list describing title, medium and size. Please indicate whether or not the work will be included in the proposed exhibition.
Please Note: It is not possible to meet with artists at the gallery. Do not bring original work!! If a personal consultation is required, you must make an appointment!!
Exhibitions 1. Art Work: Any visual art will be considered (drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media). All work must be original.
2. Display Area: The exhibition space consists of approximately 30 running feet over several walls. There is space for 12 to 20 medium sized works.
3. Framing: All work must be ready to hang. Works on paper must be framed. Spencer Gallery offers a 40% discount on materials (labour full price) to artists if framing is necessary.
4. Commission: Spencer Gallery will take a 35% commission from all sold works. This amount must be included in the artist's pricing. Sold works must remain in the exhibit for its duration. Artists will receive payment two weeks after the closing of the exhibition.
5. Opening Reception: An opening reception will be held at the beginning of each show. The artist and the gallery will split the costs for this opening. This includes food, invitations etc.
6. Duration of the Exhibition: Each exhibition lasts for one month. The gallery reserves the right to extend exhibitions.
