What have I done to my MX-3?
Some of my friends say the question should be what haven't I modified on the car.


My Car Specs: (At least for now)


1993 MX-3 GS

COLOR: Laguna Blue (Paint Code 6W)
ENGINE:Recently replaced with J-Spec (KL-ZE) 2.5L V-6 [was] (KL-DE) 2.5L V-6 from 626 (Original (K08)1.8L V-6)
TRANSMISSION: (G25M-R) 5 Speed final drive ratio 4.11:1 (Original 4.39:1)
For higher top end speed and to reduce wheel spin in 1st & 2nd gears. (I have recently gone back to the original final drive ratio transmission due having the Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch flying apart damaging the input shaft, throw-out fork and starter nose.)


Engine Modifications:  

  • PRM - Jetstream Air Filter

  • BERU – Silverstone Sparkplugs  
  • BRULLEN- Custom-made Polished Stainless Steel Dual 5" round N-1+ style mufflers with 2.5" center pipe and resonator
  • FEDERAL MUFFLER - Custom 2.5" to twin 2" Y-pipe between center pipe and twin mufflers 
  • EARL – braided hoses and fittings  
  • CLUTCHMASTER-STAGE 4 CLUTCH KIT
  • ZEKE’S PREFORMANCE – Balanced and Lightened Flywheel (6lbs less than stock) 
  • ADF Crank timing pully indexing kit
  • NMSTRe-enforced engine mounts (custom made Urethane inserts)
  • NMSTModifed OEM KL-ZE manifold to fit under hood of MX-3
  • NMSTPhenolic intake manifold thermo spacers (will have to make a new set for the KL-ZE manifold) 
  • NMSTEpoxy filler in intake manifold to smooth out airflow
  • NMSTPolished valve covers, intake manifold,
  • LUC'S- "Little Black Box" attach to factory ECU
  • ???? - Hi flow (RX-7 turbo) Catalytic Converter 2.5" in/out
  • NMST-Headers are finally installed after 7 hours welding all the bit and piece of pipe that I've sitting in a box for 5 years.
  • ADF - Aluminum 125mm power steering underdrive pump pulley
  • UNORTHODOX RACING- Underdrive Crank Pully
  • CLUTCHMASTER-STAGE 4 CLUTCH KIT
  • MAZDA- 0.73:1, 5th Gear Ratio set to replace stock 0.799:1 gear ratio (have gone back to 0.799:1 due to carbon fouling issue when engine is run at or below 3000 rpm on the highway)
  • NMST - Waterpump block off plate and electronic temp. controlled electric waterpump kit. (look for it mid 2001)
  • The "Black Projects" - ??????????????

Suspension & Wheels:  

  • GAB – Adjustable Shocks
  • EIBACH – Springs
  • ENERGY SUSPENSION -  Urethane Bushings
  • UNKNOWN MFTR. - Hard Durometer Urethane front control arm bushings and rear trailing arm bushings. (The person that send them to me said they were the last set they could find so not to make any mistakes installing them because I will not be able to find a replacement)
  • KONIG - new for 2000 Toxxin (White) Wheels
    (17X7 -offset +40mm)
  • TOYOnew for 2000 Proxes T-1S (215/40-17)
  • SPC – Rear Camber adjustment bolts (+/-1 deg adjustment)
  • KVR- Cross drilled front and rear rotors
  • KVR – Carbon Brake Pads (front)
  • FASTCO-Front strut bar kit (I designed a custom crown bracket for driver side to fit car with A/C is now imported by Europlus)
  • NMST- Rear strut bar kit
  • NMST- 23mm Rear Anti-Sway bar kit
  • NMST- Front radius rod kit (Look for it mid 2001)

Audio System: 

  • MB QUART- tweeter, 4"mid in Custom kick panels
  • MB QUART- 6.5" mid-bass in doors (front)
  • POLK- 5.25" co-axial (left minus right mono rear fill similar to home theater)
  • JL AUDIO- 10W6 in .70cu.ft. sealed fiberglass sub-box (molded to rear quarter panel)
  • ALPINE- Single CD Tuner
  • Other electronics- If you can't see it, you don't need to it's there. (but you might talk me into show you in person)

Security System:
YES - multiply redundant Security systems with a few trick and surprises. Thank to my friend Ricco for spending 8 hours under my dash wiring the system in part of the system.
