'92-'93 MX-3 DASH TRIM KIT

11 Piece Kit

Dashwood is a local Montreal (Canada) company that manufacture and installs automotive trim kits for the local market (dealers, auto detailing shops & performance shops). This seem to be the first dash kit available for the MX-3 that I know of. Getting tired of the painted dash thing at car shows, I offered to demo a kit in my car to be different and to show off this product to other MX-3 owners that are not aware that this kit exists. Right now the kit is only available for the '91-93 models but Dashwood would be willing to make a kit for the '94+ MX-3 if someone local would let them use their car as a pattern to make the dash pieces. Their catalog also includes kits for all other Mazda models from 1993 to 2000

The kits Available in simulated and Real Wood grain, "Carbon" & Brushed Metal finishes. I picked Blue "Carbon" kit for my car.

Synthetic finishes available are: Rosewood, Black Burl, Oxford Burl, Regal Burl, Mahogany & Simulated Carbon fiber.
"Carbon" Finishes are available in the following colors: Yellow (Kevlar), Dark Blue and Red
Natural wood finishes available are: Italian Burl, American Rosewood, Indian Rosewood & Flex-Metal

I installed the kit myself. Actually it was very easy and only took about an hour and a half. First you must clean all the plastic panels to remove any trace of oil, "Armor-All", dust, coffee and anything else that have collected on the plastic surfaces of the car over the years. I used Meguiar's #39 Vinyl/Plastic prep to clean the plastic but you could also use rubber alcohol or similar non- petroleum based cleaner. Test fit each parts before removing the backing on the tape. When putting the pieces of the dash kit on make sure you position it right the first time because you only get one shot at getting it right. Once it down it's stuck on permantely. I recommend starting at a point where you can get a vertical and horizontal reference and some of the smaller pieces can be stretched a little to make them fit a little better. I took some pictures to show how the kit looks but found it is impossible to show the 3-D effect in a photograph.Note that not all the pieces were installed in my car at the time the photos were taken
After installing the some of the pieces I realized I should have painted the area's not covered by the dash kit with a matching color first. Oh well, I guess I can still mask and spray them.

At the present time I do not believe Dashwood kit are being marketed outside the Montreal area. If anyone is interested or needs more information. You can contact my friends at Lazer Auto for more details, pricing and availablity
